Moscow respects China’s balanced position on the Ukrainian conflict. Beijing has repeatedly stated that it understands its true root causes, pointing to the destructive role of the US and NATO. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov in an interview with the Global Times.
“From the very beginning of the acute phase of the Ukrainian conflict, the Chinese side has taken a balanced position, emphasizing the need for a political and diplomatic settlement, respect for the territorial integrity and legitimate security interests of all parties involved. We respect this position.”

He stressed that “Beijing has repeatedly stated that it understands the true root causes of the conflict, pointing to the destructive role of the United States and its satellites.”
“China is well aware of what the West’s desire to move the military infrastructure of the NATO bloc to our borders means for Russia, they objectively assess the situation. They know what happened in the Donbas over the past eight years, the causes and consequences of the coup d’état in Ukraine in 2014,”
Morgulov said.
“Beijing opposes the revival of the Cold War mentality, bloc confrontation, and unilateral sanctions not based on international law,” he said.
