Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he is ‘excited’ by Brazil’s desire to hire him as the Selecao’s new manager.
The Brazilian Federation CBF have publicly flirted with Ancelotti for months and have stepped up their pursuit of the Real Madrid manager since Tite walked away in the aftermath of the 2022 World Cup.
Ancelotti has continuously brushed off the interest from Brazil, but while he stressed his commitment to Real in his latest press conference, he did appear to reciprocate some of the flirting.
“The reality is that the Brazilian national team wants me; I love that, it’s exciting,” Ancelotti told the media.
“From there, you have to respect the contract you have, which is a contract that I want to fulfil.”
90min reported on Friday that Real Madrid have not yet made a final decision on Ancelotti’s future, but president Florentino Perez remains a huge fan of the iconic Italian and is keen to avoid making any rash decisions.
Brazil will have to wait until the end of the season for Real to make a choice, but Ancelotti made it clear that he does not plan on walking away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
“Everything is quite clear, I’ll stay here as long as Madrid allow me to stay here,” Ancelotti added.
“I feel a lot of affection from the president, the fans, the players, the atmosphere is very calm around me. We now have two and a half months to try to win two trophies.”
Before signing off, however, Ancelotti did send a teasing message to CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues.
“If the president of the CBF wants to talk to me, I would love to meet him and greet him.”
