“From April 8, 2023, access to the sea and river ports of Bulgaria is prohibited for all ships, regardless of the flag under which they fly, having a certificate of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping,” the message says .
It is noted that this decision was made in accordance with the EU directive on the implementation of sanctions.
In April 2022, the Bulgarian government banned ships under the Russian flag from entering the country’s ports. This is provided for by the fifth package of EU sanctions. Now the ban applies to Russian ships flying the flags of other countries.
Earlier, Bulgaria published a broad report on the aggression of the Russian Federation, where it pointed out the systematic war crimes of Russia in Ukraine.
In addition, Bulgaria can sell Ukraine a huge amount of ammunition through intermediaries, which can have a significant impact on the course of the war.
