The Collaboration in the Development of Indonesia’s New Capital City (IKN) Discussed in the Revitalization of Indonesia-Brazil Strategic Partnership

​Balikpapan, Indonesia – The 8th meeting of the Indonesia-Brazil Bilateral Consultation Forum was held in Balikpapan, Indonesia on 4 May 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by the Director General of American and European Affairs of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Umar Hadi and the Secretary of Asia and the Pacific, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Federative Republic of Brazil, Ambassador Eduardo Paes Saboia.

The agenda reviewed the overall state of Indonesia-Brazil bilateral relations including a broad range of regional and global issues of common interest among others agriculture, economic, and socio-cultural cooperation, security as well as cooperation at the multilateral fora.

The two delegations expressed satisfaction of the current state of the relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further expand and diversify mutually beneficial cooperation. To support and develop this undertaking, they agreed to reinvigorate the Indonesia-Brazil bilateral relations through the establishment of the Plan of Action 2023 – 2026.

In addition, both delegations also agreed to collaborate on knowledge and experience sharing program related to the development of Indonesia’s new capital city as well as promoting dialogues to encourage innovation-based economy.

Following the 8th Bilateral Consultation Forum, on May 5th, the two delegations conducted a field visit to The New National Capital City (IKN).
