The mother of a special needs teacher who was allegedly murdered and found dead in her bathtub in Sydney has broken her silence, as details emerge about how her body was allegedly found by detectives surrounded by frozen food bags.
Catiuscia Machada, known as Cati, was found dead inside her apartment in Chiswick, in the city’s inner west, at 9.50pm on Saturday night.
NSW Police allege that her boyfriend, Diogo De Oliveira, fatally punched Ms Machada during an argument, causing her to topple into the bathtub and hit her head.
De Oliveira has been charged with her domestic violence murder and is before the courts.
Ms Machada’s mother, Eliaide, of Canos, southern Brazil, told Portuguese language media last night that her daughter had left Brazil with her boyfriend in March last year to travel overseas.

The couple had flown to Australia where 43-year-old Catiuscia found work in her profession.
However, she recently had decided to travel to the Maldives on her own.
The grieving mother said police in Sydney had told her there was allegedly a fight between the pair and that her daughter had allegedly fallen and fatally hit her head, terra.com.br reported.
Officers arrested De Oliveira at the unit block on Berchert Road, Chiswick on Monday, and he was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged.
He appeared before Burwood Local Court on Monday and did not apply for bail.
Ms Machado was a specialist in psychopedagogy which a field of study about educating children with mental health issues.
‘I work in cognitive development, with a focus on learning difficulties,’ she described her work online.

In a recent post on Facebook, she wrote about her hopes for the future and vowed to make changes to her life.
A post mortem examination will be carried out this week to determine Ms Machado’s exact cause of death, whether it was from a head injury or if she drowned.
The Machado family want to bury Catiuscia in Canoas, but were uncertain about how they will transport her remains back to Brazil once forensic authorities have conducted the autopsy and released Ms Machado’s body.
